The activities

One of the things we really care about is activities! Here I mention some of them: biking trail (mostly mountain, therefore you must not be a smoker), the area formerly known as Park West (former site of the Olympic Games) is the closest and best attended at any time. And talking about the Olympics, if you go in Winter don’t forget to visit The Olympic Park, but if you like more adrenaline: bobsled rides at the Olympic Village fits you better (but be sure to know what you’re doing or you’ll walk away with less teeth than when you came in).

The resort

We stayed at the resort for a full week to ski at Park City and surrounding areas. Our stay was excellent. We had two condos and each was fully stocked, roomy and in great condition. Our children loved the pool in addition to the ping pong table and pool table, I was able to check in early (1pm instead of 4pm) and walking into a cute and clean room table, chairs, portable grill, microwave, walk in closet, etc. they even provided robes! The resort has underground parking, which is a bit iffy if you’re travIt is situated conveniently close to Hartebeespoort Dam, Mount Amanzi is one of the closest resorts to Johannesburg and Pretoria. Certain uneling alone, but we felt safe and always found a spot.

Transport system

All Park City offers a free bus system, fueled by bio-diesel, covering lodging, shopping and dinning areas within Park City and Kimball Junction, 3 world class ski areas and residential neighborhoods. Riding the bus saves time and money. During the winter season a Trolley system also operates daily along Main Street, Salt Lake City Airport is about 40 miles away, this is one place I’d call “Oldies but Goodies”.

Winter games

Winter games, the Olympics, one affiliated Royal Holiday time share property named the Park Plaza Resort. Not all is winter in this resort, not all is skiing (downhill or cross country) in Utah, during the warmer months the resort runs a cable car service to transport mountain bikes up the mountain to enjoy the cycling and hiking trails. There is also free transportation to any point within Park City, swimming pool and Jacuzzi are some features.

Nice and quiet

One of the things we really liked about this hotel is that there is no casino there and it’s nice and quiet – no bling, bling as soon as you walk in like all the other hotels. The staff there was friendly and all, including the concierge, all were extremely helpful. If one is happy not to stay in the fanciest place and you don’t want to pay fancy smashy prices, then Jockey Club is all you need – a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with clean and spacious accommodation and staff to assist you with whatever you need. But I insist don’t take a car there, no parking!

My room

The staff was friendly, we were able to borrow movies and they had free popcorn. The condo had a fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, sink, coffee maker, fridge, plates, scissors, bottle openers, dish detergent, etc.) The place was really clean and although the color scheme is green, its nice, doesn’t look old or worn, even 1 Bedroom rooms are spacious, the elevators are off the front desk, and entering from the back, they don’t even see you as you come and go, parking is scarce, so you better move with public transportation.

The Bellagio

We took the advice of Royal Holiday and requested a room facing the Bellagio but although they were already taken we had front row seats for the Fountain Show at the Bellagio (we were told by guests already staying there it was lovely). We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite. The beds were comfy, had huge oversized pillows (which I love), fully stocked kitchen (even had those rubber things to help open stuck jars!), next time I’ll be sure to book it earlier.

A whole week in the paradise

All stays in this resort are for a whole week usually beginning on Saturdays (of course I don’t have to tell you not to take any kids here if your plan is to go wild), some of the amenities are: outdoor pool, lighted tennis courts, workout equipment, sauna and hot tub by the pool, Mc Carran airport is 4 miles away, if you want to arrive with style from the airport, rent a limo, but there’s a trolley going back and forth between casinos and hotels all along the strip.

Las Vegas

What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas! that’s more than the true The Jockey Club in Las Vegas is another affiliated Royal Holiday resort. Located on the glittering Las Vegas Strip, directly across from the Aladdin Hotel, the Jockey Club puts you in the center of all the action. Enjoy non-stop entertainment, in the city that never sleeps like casinos, shopping, excellent dining and big-name entertainment (like you wouldn’t know).

The Surfliner and Coaster trains

The Surfliner and Coaster trains do pass close by the resort, which was great fun for my children. We are early risers (in the rec. room for coffee and wireless internet access) so the morning whistles didn’t affect us, if you are a late light sleeper ear plugs would do the trick. It’s a homey little resort with only 31 units and everyone was very friendly from guests to management. It was an extremely relaxing vacation and we hope to get the opportunity to stay there again with Royal Holiday (and of course book early, don’t want to miss it).
