I’m not sure if I should keep telling you all about the damn swine flu thing or focus on more important things like a little paradise I call, Cancun! J I have read a lot to make sure that everything will be cool-and-the-gang when we get down to Cancun and have also called Royal Holiday several times to get their take. They have sent us a bunch of relevant info, not only about our reservation and special offers, but also regarding the safety measures they are taking at their resorts. We already know that every day, all common areas are being sanitized, they are guaranteeing that no one with the flu has been on the ground to this point. They’ve even discontinued certain buffets for hygienical purposes (check it out: http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/resources/publichealth/swine_flu_hha_5_moments_pdf.asp). But the rest of their menus are exquisite and I honestly can’t get enough!!
We were planning to travel by ourselves but now, because everything is fine again…guess who wants to join? Yup…you guessed it…my sister wants to go. I really just hope we don’t have to change dates and can just meet there. I’m going to need a bigger place for sure, but I have no doubt Royal Holiday will be able to help.
Anyway, I gotta run…have a meeting to get to…but….I’LL BE BACK!!
There are many places to visit in Mexico, from North to South, West to East…beautiful spots with wonderful beaches, historical areas, archeological sites, fine restaurants, haciendas hotels, resorts, spas, wonderful clubs, etc…AHHHH…I love it!!! I have been there a bunch of times…but it has been a few years now…so it’s time to go back. And despite some of the gripes I hear…I definitely will keep on going as long as I can, regardless of how busy or quiet it is…though I def prefer a bit more of the quiet side…hehe…let’s be honest, right?
But I really want to go back to Cancun this year because I’m sure it has changed a lot since I was there was in 2005. Carrie hasn’t gone since her last spring break, back in 1999…yeaaaah, don’t ask about that one…hahaha!!
She hasn’t been able to go to Tulum, X-caret, Xel-ha because it seems she decided to spend her holidays sunbathing, dancing and drinking…oh, and drinking some more…lol. Now, things might be different, she wants to spend her holidays WITH ME!!!! Hahahah!!!

Just check out what “Rivera Maya “ has to offer us and don’t be too envious…after all, you can always join us.
The combination of fabulous weather, great beaches and delicious food…another culture and some common sense far outweighs any fear or hysteria making headlines that might tempt me to stay home.
I’ll tell ya, I’ve been diggin Cabo recently…this place is awesome and I love where the Royal Holiday resort is located because I LOVE San José del Cabo area. Really is one of my favs!
Los Cabos has great things to do, from great beaches, tours of the sand dunes, whale watching, several small islands with tons of marine fauna, great expeditions with that slight touch of adventure that I truly love. Honestly…I could stay here forever…the fun never stops and all I have to do is just contact my Club and they’ll take care of everything. Check it out: www.royal-holiday.com. We’ve seen some incredible travel packages and are definitely starting to learn what the best spots are…maaaaybe I’ll tell you all…if you’re good!
Annnnnnd scene…
Since you all know how much I love traveling to Mexico, I’ve been doing my due diligence in reading up on all the world’s news about the flu, seeing that surgical masks have become a freaking fashion accessory in Mexico City (love those neutral tones…haha): http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthpicturegalleries/5243655/Decorated-swine-flu-surgical-masks-in-Mexico.html
But the fact is that it’s getting better and even the people in Mexico City, who have been SO cautious and followed all of the directions from their government, are now starting to chill out about the whole thing.
“The situation is stabilizing,” Calderon (Mexico’s president) told the governors…and said that it will be crucial that they not let down their guard and throw away everything that has been achieved with all the meticulous efforts thus far. I’ll tell you about Cancun, Cabos, Ixtapa and some other places where I have friends and have informed me of the situation…and actually, I’ll give Royal Holiday a call let you know what they are doing. Stay tuned…..
So I was telling you all about the safety measures that were being setup for travelers…especially for people concerned about heading to Mexico because of the swine flu. Honestly, the local governments (including the US gov’t) have this thing pretty well in-hand. In my opinion, this thing has been blown way out of proportion…and with the proper precautions, which amounts to knowing not to do dumb things and to wash your hands, etc…you’ll be totally fine…after all, this isn’t like the ebola virus or something. It’s a flu, a tough one for sure, but nothing that should stop people (and certainly not ME) from taking advantage of the cheap airfares and rates to Mexico right now. I’ve been reading all the security measures Mexico is taking and they are doing just as much, if not more, than I’ve seen here in America. But it does make me feel better to see the attention it’s getting, of course…I’m not suggesting to blow off the whole thing. So anyway, read up on things to make yourself feel better and let’s go to México!! I mean…look at this and tell me that the now very much under-wraps swine flu would deter you from coming here for vacation: http://www.destination360.com/north-america/mexico/beaches.php. Yeah…thought not. Haha!
I love travelling when celebrating a special date. I have gone on holidays several times during my birthday. It is much more interesting for me to go on vacations during a special festivity than staying and prepare a barbecue, a dinner or even a party. My experience is that a few days with the ones you love are lot more memorable than one afternoon or night at home or Club, and, with Royal Holiday, it will cost you the same.
I wanted to take some time to tell you a bit about my membership and what they’ve got for us. Park Royal is the chain of hotels Royal Holiday has. I’m not sure how many they have nowadays nut I have gone to a few of them and they really run with high quality standards, especially considering they are all inclusive resorts and some people don’t like them much. I love them, I don’t have to plan a thing, and I do whatever I want whenever I want it. We save money and we eat and drink so much!!!!!!
Also, the activities in a Park Royal hotel are an issue Royal Holiday has taken care carefully. They have lots of activities to offer us. I have used their tennis courts, they have given me discounts on tours, the kayaks are great and even the diving lessons at the pool. They are always things to do, of course, besides taking a great sun bath!!
Park Royal has great activities for kids and in most of the places I have gone, the spa is gorgeous.
I really need to go on holidays now, I just called Royal Holiday and they offered me a big room in Cancun, I was telling you that before. It is a good time to travel now and Royal Holiday has taken care of all security measures to be able to travel to their beaches. Carrie and I will take 4 days off and we are going. The flight is very inexpensive now and if you remember, 48 hours minimum to rest so I’m taking double!!!! And of course…. A double martini as well.
I’ll start this month with mother’s day, I can’t leave before next Sunday and by the end of the month, I’ll go to Park Royal.
But this is not about me, it is about all those women who have taken care of us and that if we don’t take care of them and pay them back, most of them would be lonely and sad. ( well, mine, don’t think so!!) but,, just to avoid it, my sister will spend this weekend at Vail, which is close ( I’ve told you that) and with those huge apartments they can stay all together. They made reservations already, they’ll go tomorrow night. As simple as that, just a call, ask for availability and if they have the room you need, you book it. When they come back, I’ll take her to a nice place with Carrie to have dinner.
All this talk about traveling has made me think about why people take vacations. What do they really think when they’re planning them? I mean, most people get a couple days off a week, so they can catch up on personal life, sleep, relaxation, etc. But then they say, “Ya know, I think I need a vacation.” So they plan a long weekend. Or they drive a couple hours, get a hotel and do some local, tourist stuff and go home. But the part is that more often than not, the average vacationer doesn’t TRULY get that “release.”
I’ve read that you need to be COMPLETELY away from work, “the real world,” computers, blackberries, etc., for more than 72 hours before you start to really receive some mental clarity and relaxation. And thinking back on this, yeah, it makes sense. Those first few days you always wonder if everything is OK at home, are the kids alright, do the pets have enough food, did you pay the cable bill, how is your boss going to get through all those reports while you’re gone? Ya know what? Those things will ALL take care of themselves. The bills are paid, the grandparents are taking care of the little ones…and yes…your boss can deal with those reports (I mean, it IS called vacation for a reason, right??).
So next time you’re planning your vacation…make sure you have enough time to really let go of it all. Plan a good 5-7 days in paradise and relax!
