Things changed, we couldn’t just go look for them we had to wait for them to come look for us, as it did happened. They found us around two o’clock and we just hang out by the pool too tired to move, as I did observed Mark’s interest for my sister was real, not just a alcohol enhanced imagined one, so they talked and talked and we all decided we were going out to a club tonight but before that we should meet for diner, it was clear mark’s friends were trying to help him in pursuing his romantic interest, and I’m sure they felt the same way about my sister and me. They suggested to take us out for dinner, but staying in an all inclusive hotel it seemed silly to make them pay, so we agreed to dine together in the hotel’s fancier restaurant, and then go out to Acapulco’s night life.
We decided she was going to go for it, after all even if he did lived like a 4 hour drive from her, maybe they could have something more, but even if it ended with our Park Royal Acapulco week, it would make her feel good about herself and she should have fun and enjoy, so with our mind made up about it we went to bed. We woke up almost at noon and went down for a hearty breakfast; we then headed up towards the adult only pool and acted like we were not looking for them, but for a great tanning spot. Everything changes when you decide you like someone you have just seen as a friend until then, any other day we would have searched for them, told the guys we were looking for them to play a beach ball game or whatever, but after she made up her mind about Mark…
We went to bed a little past 3 in the morning and a had a little too much to drink, by the end of that night my sister was starting to have some kind of attraction towards Mark (changed name or my sister would kill me), mark was not my type but cute in his own way, he was fun and cheerful and I did like him, but my sister was really getting into him, and apparently so was Mark feeling towards her. We talked about it when we arrived at our room, and we pondered the chances of this being more than a vacation trip romance, and we both decided she should go for it. She had just broken up with a two year boyfriend six month ago and although she had dated she hadn’t like anyone like this for a long time, so we made up her mind and…
This vacation trip was turning out to be more fun than we expected, having made friends with these guys we had found some male protection for clubs, and some hanging out friends at the hotel. Playing cards and knowing your way around a poker table, and being aware of the implicit poker etiquette is a great asset as far as guys are concerned, they find it interesting and very helpful in a woman. So when we said that we knew what it was all about, they looked at us in a mixture of approval, amusement and a condescending “let’s see if it is true” look. Remember we were at an all inclusive resort, so drinks were included and the game started. As it always happens in poker games with friends, we laughed, we played, got angry, and at the end had a great time, my sister broke even and I won 8 dollars which made up for a great fun night.

We set up at La Margarita Bar, one of the guy brought with him one of this poker cases that have all the chips and cards and even a poker tablecloths one of those green soft fabrics, used to cover game tables, so we paid our entry fee twenty dollars, and Mike (made up name) gave each of us our corresponding chips. You have to know that in my family we are used to play board and card games, and we play every time we get together, my beloved father being a domino’s fan he would always chose that game but you have to be 4 or 8 or else it becomes boring for the people watching, in this sense card games are for any number of players which is why we play them the most. So we weren’t strangers to a poker table and the variety of poker games that you can play.
Any way after a good and smiley great night sleep, we woke up early, had a wonderful breakfast the hotel has a gym but a vacation trip is not for exercising, so we skipped our workout all week, we had a fabulous Mexican breakfast, I think they are called huevos rancheros, which someone explained to us was like cowboy eggs, it really is like two fried eggs with a really rich sauce all over them. We went down to the beach to perfect our tans and have some fun. We got our work out all right, we played some beach volleyball, and some soccer, and we read and had some drinks, and we met the guys from the first day and hang out with them for a while, they had gone to the clubs two nights in a row and were not planning on going out today so we agreed on a night poker game.
As I was telling you we came to our Park Royal hotel room early and as we got our shopping trip goodies out we started talking about our family gatherings and one thing led to another and we started laughing like silly teen aged girls who have had too much to drink, and we were just laughing our hearts out until we cried and our bellies ached. It was so much fun, we just tried to calm down and watch a little TV, but Everybody Loves Raymond reruns were on and we started laughing again, it was so cathartic, we just laugh and laugh wishing our next room neighbors wouldn’t come by to ask us to be quiet. Any way we went to bed and fell asleep with the TV on and a smile on our face, we were soo relaxed. We hadn’t laughed like that since we were in our teen years.
We went from hardy speaking to speaking almost every day and knowing each other friends, of course we still fight, we disagree about many things, but many years of therapy taught me to let go of a big sister control thing I had and now every time I want to say something about how she manages her love life, her money, her job, etc, I just put myself in a friend mode and try to give my opinion as I would to a friend without expecting her to follow my advice. And of course things are more relaxed now. We talk and argue and make up again, and we are glad to have each other in our life. This vacation trip was our idea of getting a few days away from it all and still gets a chance to talk about the next family meeting, and of course catch up on family gossip.
As I already told you me and my sister don’t live in the same house, we live like a 3 hour drive apart, and with work and social events, we don’t get to see each other as much as we would like, we weren’t always close, in fact there was a time we would barely speak to each other unless there was a family event coming up, like my father’s birthday, and we would talk about buying something better by putting the money we would have spent on our own together and we gave my dad a better gift. But we would see each other on those family meetings and we would chat for hours, so we decided it was no good that we had to wait for these events to catch up with each other, so we started making a monthly appointment to meet in the middle of the way, and soon it turned into a monthly stay at my house or her house.
We had a great time at La Isla shopping mall, we even dine there it has wonderful restaurants, and great stores, The coffee and ice-cream shops, have outside tables and being a open roof shopping mall we enjoyed our treats there, we relaxed and walked al through the mall. We tried on some bathing suits and some slippers, we had some chile spicy candy that was really good, we even saw a small kind of gondola where people sailed across the mall. As I said it has everything you would expect to find in a regular US mall, and then some, it had a great shop where we bought some folk crafts from Mexico to take home as souvenirs for our parents and friends, and we tried on some cute clothes and of course some shoes. On this first trip to this amusing mall we laugh and relaxed, but all that partying the night before was catching up and we went to our hotel early.
