Don’t get me wrong I am as technology friendly as the next guy and carry around my cell phone everywhere. In fact I have returned home when I realize I have forgotten my iPod or my cell phone, but the thing is we once weren’t so depending on these things and with a little effort we can make Sundays a tech free day like my Friend Marissa’s parents have, if you come to their house for a delicious Brunch they have every Sunday you should turn your cell off and don’t even think about getting out a blackberry or ask for a computer, you don’t even watch TV on Sundays at her parents’ house, and you know what we have spent so many great times like that, playing cards and board games and just chatting the evening away. They even bring out a guitar (of course not an electric one).

I am impress of how much the technology has made us depend on it, today we are lost without internet and it is hard to believe we once lived without cell phones and iPods, people weren’t able to locate us when we were on vacation and we didn’t see people using a computer laying in a beautiful warm and tropical beach on a vacation trip with his or her family just glancing hateful looks towards the cell phone or the laptop. Once when people were on vacation work had to be done without them, now a days in museums, in concerts, in a lift on a skiing resort, you hear people talking and solving work issues over the cell phone. I have seen women in a spa massage taking work phone calls. Isn’t the whole point of getting a massage or taking a vacation trip to decompress and forget about your stressful work?

I was really impressed by Barcelona and the sad story is I lost my digital camera on my trip back home, I must have left it is some airport counter or something because nothing else was missing from my bag, the thing is the camera wasn’t a great expensive one, but the memory card had all my trip pictures in it so I couldn’t upload any of them into my blog. I don’t miss my camera I miss my memory card, this had thought me that whenever you can you should back up your pictures y one of those machines that record the pictures into a CD or a DVD and then you are safe to continue taking pictures, or you should buy smaller memory cards and keep them in your luggage, this way if you lose one you should still have some pictures left. I know that I will follow my own advise on my next vacation trip.
The flamenco dance is sexy and known all around the world for its dresses and its sexy movements, in Barcelona a not so sexy group dance is the dance of the Catalonia region and it is a group dance not a female male sexy dance but a group holding hands in a circle that can include anyone who wants to join in, it goes round and round with all the joy and union a circle dance can generate, even for the visitors it is a joyful dance and fun to watch. A different passionate look from the dramatic and sexy flamenco which you can also find in Barcelona, even if it is only for the tourists, dance shows are fun and entertaining and I do love to see the hand and hip movements and the rhythmic hand clapping with the guitar accompanying all the dramatic effects. If you haven’t seen a Flamenco dance you are missing a great show.
As all Spanish cities, Barcelona has very passionate people, and they are passionate about several things among them soccer, all Barcelonan people root for the Barca or Barcelona soccer team whose worst opponent is the Real Madrid form Spain’s capital City. And when these two teams play against each other the heat really turns up and the fans get really worked up. They go and cheer their team and if it loses it ruins the rest of the day for them. Soccer game on Sundays is a family and friends event where everyone is cheering on eating “tapas” and drinking wine, even grandmothers are very into it. The other thing that arises so passionate discussions is politics and how to fix the Spanish government whom o of course is to blame for all the problems in Catalonia. Dancing is another event you can’t miss when visiting Spain on your next vacation trip.
Barcelona is also a port, and as any port city, it has a lot of places to sell all the produce that arrives to it, so it has a market association that is so organized it throws food fairs and cultural exhibitions on several marketplaces, not to mention all the fruits and vegetables you see, smell and taste. The two main markets you don’t want to miss when visiting Barcelona are the Boquería and the Santa Caterina Mercats or market places in Catalan. The thing is to taste a little bit of everything and to bring a camera to take in all the colors and the flavors back home. The Mercat association even has a history timetable and an event calendar so you can schedule your visits. Try it out, something different and enjoyable to do with family and/or friends. Walking though Barcelona will burn all the calories you may eat so try all the local food and wine you want it won’t show up back home.

As I have already told you Barcelonan men have the best of both French and Spanish worlds going for them and then some. So if you ever are lucky enough to take a weeklong trip to Barcelona (Royal Holiday membership) or otherwise. And have the lucky star send you a romance with a Catalonia man, please go for it just don’t fall in love remember it is a vacation fling and should last only that a vacation length and the memories should last forever. The sex will be great the romance will be too and the whole Barcelona attraction tour will have a different flavor. All Barcelonan people like to boast about their city and their world famous touristic sites, and you can be sure your man will show you a good time, no a great time in Barcelona outside and inside your hotel room.
Another thing that is blossoming in Barcelona is romance young and older people are falling in love under the magic sky of this unique city. After Franco’s dictatorship ended Spain and Barcelona with it entered a “destape” phase (uncovering) in which after all those repression years’ people where finally free to move talk and speak freely. And the sexual attitude opened and swung all the way to the other side of the pendulum and started acting in many aspects of life all the way into the no limits extreme. By now the life and value aspects of life have reached middle again. An so has the romantic and sexual aspects of life, so younger people are working their way through romantic relationships and family with a realistic yet liberal approach. And the Barcelonan streets are a great place to do just that fall in love
Barcelona is a busy yet alive city with young people getting together in clubs and bars, it is a great place to meet people with several art galleries and painting, museums and several cultural touristic routes you can take if you like to admire great artists, like in the web page of the Barcelona tourism ministry, it has several themed routes which include: A Picasso Route, A Gaudí Route, Miró route, the medieval route the modernist and contemporary route, and several other cultural routes you can access in your Barcelona visit. Barcelona has given birth to many great artists and Barcelonan people like to boast all they can about them so you will find many great tours that include visits to their arts. Salvador Dalí was also born in Catalonia, so you get my point when I tell you arts and culture are and always have been blossoming in Barcelona.
I have a friend whose family is from Barcelona and most of them lived there so she moved some years ago and skype and e mails have kept us communicating with each other. She is always praising the great qualities of Barcelona and Catalonia, and she really thinks that they should be thought of as different form all the other Spanish communities. Barcelonan people are very interested in culture and they love reading, did you know Barcelona has a great offer of both bookstores and libraries from which to choose if you are into art too. The city’s architecture is famous for the buildings of Gaudí, an architect who lived at the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century. The buildings in Barcelona are a tourist attraction on its own and the mosaics and sculptures give the city its own original personality which Barcelonan take pride on. http://www.barcelona-home.com/int/study.asp?theme=bibliotecas
